iChat A/V Connection Error

Guys,

I have searched for this issue and found many suggestions, none that have solved my problem.

I am getting the following error when trying an A/V chat in iChat Version 5.0.3 (745):

I have a router with UPNP enabled (Netgear DGN1000) and the OSX firewall currently turned off.

However, I see this in the connection doctor:

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I do concentrate on iChat and sometime iSight.

iChat is spread across 4 forums although iChat 2 and the one in the Leopard area for iChat 4 are almost dead.

I get by with only about 3 hours a day here 🙂

Seems this is a new Netgear as i have never seen it before.

I always get the "Router type: port restricted" and has never stop me A/V'ing.

On the setup page/router status whats the firmware version.

Yes, I checked, just in case there was something more recent.
Very odd. Wouldn't work (Audio or video) with port forwarding to a static LAN IP or the default way just using uPNP.

Guys,

I haven't been here in some time, but I'm glad the conversation has been ongoing and that someone else is experiencing the same problem as me!

So am I to understand that for some reason the DGN1000 just doesn't play with iChat AV?

Is there any workaround, or is it time for a new modem/router?

Hi,

It has been so Long that I had lost the subscription to this thread (They Automatically die after period)

I have nothing new (from other threads).

Mostly it seems this is one device from the Netgear stable that has something that iChat does not like.

I am having the issue with the Connection Doctor saying, "Router type: Port Restricted". My router is a Linksys E4200 running DD-WRT (Build 16785). I'm on Mountain Lion, so I'm actually using Messages.

Just thought, I'd keep the thread going, and add more up-to-date key words.

There are four main methods and I am sure many manufacturers actually use methods that are not really in one group or another.

As Defcom has said in this tread he gets this messages with the Netgears he has had.

I get it with a Sky Branded Sagem Fast2504

Sky are a Satellite TV company that also do others services including Internet Provider

They out their own software on to the Router (Combined Modem and router device)
