Thanks, this "Unauthorized..." error was driving me crazy!
How did you solve it...I am having the issue
In Terminal.app execute:
rm ~/Preferences/com.twitter.twitter-mac.plist*Kozmoz - thanks for your reply but I get an error "No such file or directory"

The command is
rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.twitter.twitter-mac.plist*
He had the path wrong, that's why you were getting the error.

Deleting the preferences alone did not work for me.
Nevertheless, interesting enough, I managed to get my account setup again by
1) Deleting the preferences
2) Creating a new account on the twitter website (just use a fake email adress)
3) Logging in via the twitter app with this new account
4) Adding the original account under Preferences, Account
5) Deleting the fake account

After trying everything without any results, I tried my own meathod. Delete the preferences stated above, but ALSO go to ~Library/Caches and delete the com.twitter.twitter-mac folder. Reinstall twitter. It worked like a charm for me.
I had the same issue after manually changing my time to test some issues for work.
The issues persisted even though I had set the time back to Automatic with Apple.
The above fixes didn't fix anythign. However, I did find the following file which had a file with an invalid (future) timestamp:
~/Library/Containers/com.twitter.twitter-mac
I removed that file and opened Twitter.app and I was able to instantly log in.
