"Message could not be moved to mailbox Trash" Error message

When I delete an email, either single or multiple, I get the message "Unable to Move Message" with the explanation "The message could not be moved to the mailbox Trash....OK". Other than that it all seems to work OK and the emails do get deleted but how do I stop the message popping up every time?
Thanks in advance

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.

Have you emptied the trash lately? Holding the iPad in the horzontal position, so the sidebar stays on the left, at the top of the sidebar, tap Mailboxes, then tap Trash, then on the top of the trash listing tap Edit and at the bottom Delete All and then confirm the Delete All.

You may be seeing an effect of a full trash mailbox.

Tapping mailboxes I see, under "Inboxes" three items: "All Inboxes", a link to my GMail and a link to my POP3 accounts.
Apart from "Inboxes" there is another group "Accounts" and under that two links one to each of my GMail and POP3 accounts. Tapping my GMail i see All the folders at GMail, including "Bin". Tapping my POP3 all I see is my "Inbox" link.

I hope this makes sense

I've had a similar problem, though it doesn't seem to happen with 4.2 - I think this was due to the fact that you can't do much with Exchange connections (e.g. for Google Mail) when you are not online. In iOS 4.2 the delete button stays grey'ed out when you are not online.
