Hi,

If you purchased an app then deleted it, you must pay for it again.

If this is a free app, check your Applications folder to see if it's there.

I do not believe that this is correct. That's not the way it works for apps on the iTunes store, so I don't know why it should be here.

I have an app that I accidentally downloaded and then deleted. It shows up in the Purchases section on the App Store with an "Install" button to let me reinstall it. Although this particular app was a free one, I see no reason why the same thing wouldn't work for a paid app. If you do not see the same thing, contact Apple via the App Store support page.

I have the same problem with iRatchet 3.06. Dowloaded it on February 5 and it worked fine until I upgraded to 10.6.8 and now it refuses to run. Contacted developer and he said to delete files which I did. There is now not a trace of iRatchet on my hdd but the App Store status still says Installed so I cannot redownload. Contacted Apple and got two COMPLETELY USELESS reples from them referencing useless FAQs that did not solve the problem. The other solution they offered was paid service support!

Still have no solution after 1 week.

Apple has not thought thru this part of the App Store properly.

Sorry Dahveed BUT the issue is Apple. Instead of wasting my time with suggestions about new trial accounts, you try deleting an application downloaded from the MAS either manually or with something like App Zapper or following the developer instructions. Then login in and see what App Store tells you about the App status—it will show Installed.

Not Available for purchase but Installed! Now try finding a way to re-install or redownload. Can't be done and Apple Support cannot tell you a way either.

In which case, send an email to Puneeth at MAS support (referencing Track ID: 15598094) because he has failed to come up with a working solution/explanation so far and believe me I have been through EVERY startup item folder, preference, application support and file on this hdd and there is no trace of iRatchet on the disk unless it is hidden inside an obscure system cache file somewhere.

Having bought iRatchet, it can be downloaded mutiple time to mutilple computers so that is not the issue. I'd even buy it again if I could get that option but the status remains steadfastly "Installed."

"Instead of wasting my time..."

You have highjacked another user's thread with your problem, the fact that anyone offers to work with you should be considered a blessing.

As far as that advice that I have offered you, I have done everything that you mention and more, testing the MAS. I test everything that I suggest to users here in the ASC. I do not have any issues with the MAS. Suggesting that you create a user account and test to see if the issue persists is a standard troubleshooting measure often offered here in the ASC. It can will tell you if the issue is system-wide or limited to a specific user account.

As for friend Puneeth, he is a developing world person, making a meager wage, somewhere in a call center in South Asia. He is offering you suggestions out of a troubleshooting scenario manual. He may have never even seen a Macintosh computer, aside from pictures in his manual.

I have 27 years of Macintosh experience that I am offering for free here in the ASC, in a language that is not my mother tongue. I test Apple software. If you wish my advice no problem. If you do not wish my advice, also no problem, I shall offer help to others here. If you treat me poorly, others will see it and in the future you may be ignored when you seek help here again.

So we have to get into the seniority stuff do we Dahveed as you prove yours is bigger than mine. I didn't want to have to give a CV here but I have been a Mac developer and systems engineer since the MacPlus days. I am also a Mac OS developer as well as software tester and regularly post bugs in the Apple Mac OS to Apple as a developer. In my other work, I develop Mac graphics hardware. There, is that big enough for you!

I have also worked on the **** Desk doing Mac support back in the day so I understand the problems Puneeth finds himself with.

The reason I said do not waste my time is because too many people on these types of boards immediately assume that someone posting for the second or third time is a newbie with no brains. OF COURSE I have tried all the standard troubleshooting fixes like new users, new trial accounts, etc., and I can reproduce this problem on other machines running both Lion GM (for which I do have a legal right) and 10.6.8.

And BTW, what's the hijacking? The thread originator and I both have exactly the same problem and neither of us has been able to get a satisfactory answer from MAS support.

Probably I am a bit more terse than I should be (for which I apologize) but I have waited 3 days in 37C heat to get any reply from MAS support and that turned out to be nothing more than read FAQs the first time and then when I replied I got the same email a second time with an offer of paid support from Apple. That's the sort of support I'd expect from Dell not Apple.

If you do not offer the information we do not know. If we assume that you are a noobie we are ****** and if we assume you are experienced we are ******. If you want good help in the ASC, then a good post would offer those of whom you seek assistance an understanding, a run down or list, of what you have tried that did not work. Offering advice and having it flung back with, "I already tried that, any one else with a better suggestion?", which happens here too often, gets old quickly.

I have the MAS running on an iMac with 10.6.8, no issues since its introduction. The same for the GM on a Mac mini.

Ciao.
