Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Finding my localhost folder.

I seem to be in an unending battle with PHP.

If I open Safari and enter:

it shows me:

"+It works!+"

which (if my memory serves me correctly) was a page that I created when I went through the battle with getting PHP configured before (about a year ago).

How do I find this file and so determine where my actual ' localhost' folder is, so that I can begin (again) trying to develop a webpage using PHP? Or (in other words) how do I find the location of the file that says +"It works!+"? If I go to the Finder and ask it to find "It works!" it spews hout HUNDREDS of files, none of which look like the one that I am looking for.

@dcondrey. And others who might be able to explain what I did incorrectly below. Thanks.

I just came across the above dcondrey explanation which is comprehensive and precise. It was a good review of what I did a 6 months ago. My configurations are already as listed above.

My issue is this which brought me to this thread.

I am using dreamweaver for web development on Mac 10.8.3

When I try and preview my index.html in Safari or Firefox,

A window popped up with 4 fields to fill in to set up the server for testing this website. I think.

I cannot get this window back but from memory:

1.

2. I chose 'local' for testing

3. This FIELD was my problem. It had a browse folder to navigate to the Server Location (I think).

I went to library>WebServer>documents>webDevelopmentDemonstration

4. http:// ( I left this blank)

Click saved.

It gave me further pops ups.

Here is the last one that I was reluctant to agree to but I did.

Update Copy on Testing Server?

This will update the file on the testing server.

This might affect others working on the file.

Proceed?

Yes. No.

I clicked yes.

When I try to preview my index.html

Error.

Not found. The requested URL /index.html was not found on this server.

Can someone explain this.

I did some troubleshooting.

When I launch some index.html files from netbeans, the do upload to the browser.
