New Log in glitch?

For the past three days, I've gone to the log-in page, clicked on log in and the result is a completely empty, white page with the exception of an avatar in the very upper left corner: yesterday it was a white iMac, today the Finder icon (with a note at the bottom of the browser "javascript: avatar etc etc". There is no menu bar or anything else clickable. If I then go to my bookmarks bar (Firefox) and hit any one of the A D related bookmarks, it immediately takes me to that page and I'm signed in.

Hi Barbara,

Not sure if this might help but your problem seems somewhat confusing. Is the problem appear when using Firefox? Have you tried another browser to see if it loads properly when you log in to AD? Reading your post it sounds like it is happening with Firefox.....correct?

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding....it wouldn't be the first time πŸ˜‰

hope that helps someone to help better,

You may be right about FF - I just tried Safari (not the browser I normally use) and it worked there. Can't duplicate it right now in FF because I don't want to log out, clear history/cache, log back in and re open all the tabs I've got open for the day... will do that tomorrow morning.

Or are you just trying not to be lackadaisical?? πŸ˜‰

OT: had a feel good moment this morning: I was able to help our disabled friend get his money back from the crook on ebay - YES!!

That's great Barbara. Isn't that awful? It's guys like that that give ebay such a bad rap...and there is plenty of 'em! I've sold quite a bit on ebay over the years and always tried my best to be reputable and my feedback always showed it (except for a couple of crooks going the other way πŸ˜‰ )

back on topic: No I wasn't...I just didn't have any other answer for you πŸ˜‰ Maybe it was just a one off glitch with something.

Would you believe the crook just had to refund the money and already had another auction going for the same thing?? I reported it and ebay actually (for once) took the item off.

Yes I would. I've seen it many times over the years, unfortunately. It always tends to be with newer tech stuff or counterfeit merchandise mostly. At least that is what I've always noticed. It's great that you have our friends back covered πŸ˜‰ Someone like that should be banned instantly instead of the 3 strikes your out system but there are so many ways around it for those ......'s!

I remember listing (or trying to list) a very large group of very high end men's cufflinks (contemporary) that I had the good fortune of finding for next to nothing. Apparently, these types of cufflinks were a high end brand that was very protected by the maker and my first auctions were taken down instantly with no chance on my part to prove their authenticity. I fought it with ebay and won but still was only allowed to put 10 auctions at a time on. I felt it was like Apple coming down with a sledge hammer to those people trying to sell counterfeit products claiming to be genuine Apple. That sort of thing wrecked ebay for so many users....really a shame as it is/was such a fantastic method of marketing for the little guy.

I was so angry because of those people that do stuff like that on ebay and cast a shadow on honest sellers of which I like to think I'm one. I rarely do any selling on ebay any longer due to the economy being so weak that has fairly destroyed most sales for me. People here just can not compete with all the cheap foreign goods flooding the market. I really don't know what is going to happen in the end. I worry about the new generation and what they will face in the future in this country 😟

Now that I have turned this conversation from "log in glitch" to world economic woes that will be enough of my rambling...... πŸ˜€

Back on topic:

Tried the log in this morning with both FF and Safari - both browsers "fresh" with history, caches, etc. deleted - and, after going to this page:

https://support.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/ACAuthWeb.woa/wa/login?appIdKey=2dd bca23a85d20e5bf7478812379ae23&path=/login.jspa

entering my info, I got to this page:

http://discussions.apple.com/avatar-display.jspa?avatarID=192&file=av.png

BUT, I was actually logged in even though I did not get the normal page - as soon as I picked the iMac Forum, it was displayed correctly and showed me as logged in.

And, back OT:

I've been watching that guy since last March (since I was one of the first to fall for it); I have to say ebay allowing him to continue is a bigger problem to me and it's not that I haven't reported him under his various IDs...
