Will Apple TV work with USB Broadband connection

Hi,

I have a mobile broadband USB connection for my MAC laptop. Can I use an Apple TV with this or do I need to create a WiFi network to use Apple TV? If so, how do I do that?

atv will not work directly with your usb setup
your computer needs to be on and providing a wifi hotstop for the atv
but if you can set it up right it will work perfectly

Turn on Internet sharing in the Sharing section of the System Preferences on your Mac and set it to share from the USB modem to the AirPort and that will effectively turn your Mac into a wireless router that should work with the ATV.

Thanks Capaho,

Once I've shared my USB connection with Airport, I then connected the AirPort to the USB connection.

Do I then connect the AppleTV to the AirPort network?

Check the Network Preferences to see the device name for the USB modem. It will be something like usb0 or en1, then set Internet sharing from usb0 or whatever to AirPort.

Do I then connect the AppleTV to the AirPort network?

Yes, the Mac's AirPort should show up as a wifi access point with the Mac's network name.
