Well I wish they would just release it and have it right there for Apple to allow. I'm sure they at least have an internal copy. They have the Flash Player 11 for pretty much every platform so all of the optimization issues are probably resolved in terms of it being on a mobile device in general. However, I'm assuming that Apple would have to give them device platform specific hooks in order to access the hardware. If Apple restricts this then what exactly can Adobe do?
Ever seen the movie Idiocracy?
Let the world pay for free content, let them re-shape the internet into a pay-per-click system by buying apps for otherwise free content. Let them ruin technology by turning it into a fashion statement.
Stupid people without any idea what they regurgitate, only that it makes them sound "hip" and "savvy" around other idiots is all they care about.
The bottom line is that people will always foam at the mouth for mis-information, cons, and a chance to "appear" better than their brothers and sisters because someone else told them they are by owning something.
The world is drowning in it's own stupidity and greed. Never thought I'd see the day when outdated and under powered technology that is more expensive and closed would be considered "fashionable" to have.
Just reminds me of the kid who shows up at the skate park with all the brand new stuff, like a new board, trucks, bearings, all the cool new hip stuff, but he can't skate at all, and he don't care if all the "real" skaters know this and laugh at him.... there are a million more non-skaters who have no idea he can't skate but think he is really good because of all the crap he bought.
The sad part is that once these people hypothetically start suddenly paying $1000's for what should be $10's we all get screwed, and now we can't even get what we used to be able to for $10.
So we're left with only 1 choice, don't worry about the world, fairness, or people. Just screw them in the *** over and over again, before they screw you.
I'm not sure what exactly you would call your scenario; ideological lament? This is exactly why these Apple forums are so difficult, I'm making sound arguments about how this blocking Flash is not cool as someone who knows both the open standards and the Flash platform and I get someone telling me I'm like an airwalk wearing poser skateboarder? I used to skateboard for about ten years in case you were wondering lol! So there! Have you ever done a 360 flip? I have. Anyway, whatever you are trying to say to try to belittle me or something, I'm being serious here. These issues with supporting Flash are unfounded and Apple should support the latest Flash player. The platform has really matured and the actionscript language is really great!
None of this has anything to do with the open standards or native development, they aren't going anywhere. This is about Apple purposefully blocking an additional viable platform at the expense of developers and a very good software company; Adobe. I've used Adobe's tools for many years and they do a fantastic job. I have watched all of this Apple nonsense really hinder them needlessly. It's not right, it's not fair and it never was. I think that your post probably embodies the Apple mindset which is just plain weird; screw them before they screw you? What the heck Apple is the most high priced, proprietary company in the world! They have made billions on proprietary software and hardware. Yet when they do something like this there are literally people who will defend unfairness by lamenting the existence of unfairness lol!
What a world indeed ...
I am having a hard time grasping why you think that the lack of Flash is Apple's problem when Adobe has failed to produce a working version for iOS.
While I have to agree with you about apple being a proprietary company, I don't think you can call Adobe open. They are just as much a proprietary company.
Allan
But why is being a proprietary company a bad thing for Adobe and not Apple?
Or are you saying both are equally as bad?
Am I spiteful towards ups because they proprietized part of the postal service? No.
What if the US suddenly decided that the USPS was to costly, how wouyld I get any mail out? Thank god a company like ups would still be around.
What if some company attacked HTML standards, calling them slow and outdated. Who would stand up for the industry? Developers are thankfull to be backed by a company, just like labor unions exist for the same reason.
Adobe has been building Dreamweaver, a proprietary tool for building open standards for years and no one says anything.
The entire thing is completely rediculous. And Dherten, I was defending your argument not attacking it.
If anything, everyone should be mad at Apple, for blocking your access to content.
"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
No. I was saying that they are both the same so it doesn't appear correct for him to attempt to hold Apple's feet to the fire if he is not will to do the same to Adobe.
I am attacking his argument because to me he appears one sided, anti-Apple, in a case that is probably more to do with Adobe rather then Apple.
Allan
It is so easy to claim that Adobe has failed but on the other hand, we will never know, will we?
Adobe has managed to develop great Flash based iOS development tools creating very efficient solutions running as well as any other solution using the Apple development platform.
Therefore I reject to believe they are not capable developing an fully qualified iOS version of the Flash player.
As far as I know, that can only be done with an app like Skyfire.
An interesting article about Adobe abandoning Flash on all mobile devices.
Maybe Steve wasn't so wrong after all.
Allan
Please wait - this has not been confirmed yet!
Allan!
The reason for Flash missing on iOS is not that Adobe was not capable producing a proper version. No, the reason shall be found in this:
"By banning Flash Player from iOS, Apple made Flash Player on mobile a moot point for programmers making sure Web sites worked on mobile devices. Apple is powerful in smartphones with its iPhone line, and dominant in tablets with the iPad."
Giving the choose between believing you and the writer of the article, my money goes with him rather then you.

This time Adobe is laying people off.
