Printing preview with adobe pro or acrobat reader

When I print a document I generally use the Preview button to check what the document looks like.
Is it normal that with Adobe Pro or Reader the Preview buttons returns the following comment "preview is not supported".

Yes, that seems like the expected behavior - I am not exactly sure why Adobe does this, but it happens here too.

If it's important, you could ask on the Adobe site or send feedback to Apple asking why this occurs.

I think it is because Preview lets you do things you cannot do with Acrobat, and Adobe does not want you to do those things. Some of them would circumvent the security on the document. Of course, you can always open the document in Preview and get around it.

Thank you to both of you.
I asked the question in order to make sure that nothing was wrong on my new computer after reinstalling everything. It seems correct as it's the normal behaviour.

Adobe Reader, at least with my printer, does have a (small) window where you can see what the document looks like, if you make sure to expand the print dialogue box by clicking on the triangle to the right of the printer name.
