Downloading Ringtones ???

I know this is a stupid question but how are you supposed to download music ring tones now ? In an older version of i-tunes there would be a little bell symbol next to some of the music I purchased that would allow you to create a ring tone. Now that feature does not exist in i-tunes. I tried going to the AT&T site and it says that you cannot download ring tones for the i-phone on their site either and there is nothing I could find in the App store. Can someone please tell me how to download music ring

All I do is long press any song or sound on my phone and hit "set as ring tone".

Or I hit "trim for ringtone" in wich case two slider bars come up that let me set the start and stop point.

This is on an android phone, are you saying you can not do this on iphone? Have you tried?

I find it hard to believe it would be this difficult to take a song already on your phone and set it as ringtone.

Where did you get the song? Is it protected or something, I use an app called music wizard, it lets you type any song or band in and I can download or play the songs right to my phone from it.

I set these as ringtones all the time, tryMusic Wizard, I know their songs work and their all free.

I spent half a day yesterday sorting this out but finally a post on one of the other forums solved it...

Yes it must be an mR4 file but I had the same problem - no way to make it move from the Music library into the ringtone library.

Apparently the problem is that once a file is in a folder, iTunes doesn't go back again to check the extension. You need to move the original file out of the music folder to, say, the desktop. Then put it back in the iTunes library and it should check its file type because now its a new file and put it in the Ringtones folder. Then make sure the new ringtone is selected and sync. This is what worked for me (finally).

PS: I used Audiko Pro to create the two ringtone files - one worked simply and automatically, the other was a nightmare. When I backed up from my iPhone 5 to iPhone 6, the first one transferred automatically, the second had a mind of its own.
