My canon LIDE 100 scanner was working perfectly, but after a recent move, stopped. The scanner is present in About my Mac, and responds to calls but makes a short grinding noise and then a driver communication error pops up. I tried the scanner under Windows 7 in Parallels Desktop with the same results. I would chalk this up to a hardware problem, but I had a LIDE 35 last year that I chucked for the same reason. Any ideas? thx!!!

The LiDE scanners have a lock switch underneath. These are On from factory and have been known to move enough to lock the contact sensor when transported.
If the lock is Off then it does sound like a hardware problem - again 😟
yes, i tore the last one apart and noticed how cheesy that "switch" is...bit of plastic and a spring. So perhaps its just stuck in the locked position even though its in the open position...
thx!
