How to make photo albums?

I have not been able to figure out how to make albums on my iphone camera roll. I want to keep some photos on my phone to show people, but I would like to organize them into albums. There must be a way to do this since it says "albums" but there is only one on my phone and it has all of my photos in it. I also tried doing it via itunes but didn't see a way to do that. It just had a way to choose which albums from iPhoto I wanted to transfer to my phone. I'd appreciate some help with this.

Hi dancetoday07

You must make photo albums on you PC or Mac. Then you go to iTunes. There you click on iPhone (or what ever) and click on Photo. Then you choose your folder where your photo albums are on your harddisk. Click then below on the right side "Apply" or "Sync". Now go on your iPhone and open "Photos" there are you Photo albums.

As far as I know you can only have different albums with photos synced to your iPhone via iTunes - all photos taken with the iPhone go into the Camera Roll album and cannot be moved to a different album (and similarly pictures saved from emails or websites go into the Saved Photos album and also can't be moved to different albums)

There is more info on syncing photos here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236

I accomplish putting the iPhone photos into albums by using programs like Picasa or Canon ZoomBrowser.

Picasa can work with the iPhone, but ZoomBrowser can't see the iPhone directly.
But ZoomBrowser can work with a memory card.

Key thing is, I like the way ZoomBrowser names the folders it puts pictures in (example 2010 0118), and I want the iPhone photos to be in the same locations by date taken. (Picasa uses 2010-01-18, using a "-" instead of "_"; inconvenient.)

So when I want to move pictures on my camera roll using ZoomBrowser, I take an extra step:

I connect my iPhone to my computer, and insert an SD card in a cardreader slot.

I copy the pictures to the SD card.
Then I go to Zoombrowser and have it read the pictures from the SD card and store to it's YYYY MMDD folders.

Then in iTunes, I pick the new folders as described in an earlier post, and all pictures are in their proper place after I sync. (The only twist is that in the particular album, the Canon vs iPhone pictures seem to be sorted separately, possibly by their IMG_#### name; not in time-taken order which would be more natural.)

But, now all my pictures from both cameras are on the iPhone, in albums by the date they were taken. (I have a few albums I named manually for special purposes, created manually on the computer, synced like the others.)

Actually, after I marked this as the correct answer, it didn't really work. I guess I have to start a new thread. I made albums in iPhoto. I have a recent enough version of iPhoto, according to the link provided about syncing photos. The albums in iPhoto are easy to add things to. But when I sync my phone it does not add the albums to the phone. There has to be a way. Why would the phone have an area listing "albums" if there was only one album!?
