Motion crashing on Open

Motion crashing on Open

Motion used to work just fine on my system, then one day it started crashing every time I opened it. I don't recall any specific changes I made and it's been about 3 months now. I'd like to have some help decoding this crash report. I've always had problems with fonts on this machine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Motion app, but it didn't help. Thanks for any guidance you are willing to provide.

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? Motion won't launch on my computer, and I'm getting the exact same report.

Sorry you guys have been having problems. Unfortunately, Motion crashes are really hard to diagnose byremote control. You can google that error phrase and find many obscure and largely useless references. You can also search this forum for similar threads. The more common causes are graphics cards and preference files.

Hi...I just want to post my solution incase anyone else has this problem. I haven't been using my FCP for about 6 months or so, just tried to launch it and it quit before launching and I got an error sign saying 'could be ozone plug-in'????? Had never seen that before and have no idea why it all of a sudden was a problem. Read everything online I could, even bought 'Disk Warrior', although good to have, but didn't need to fix this problem. So, after going through everything and running Disk Utility and doing a repair disk permissions, I was noticing issues in 'framework'.

So I went to Library - Frameworks and in there is a list of folders and in FxPlug.framework and Motion.framework and PluginManager.framework and ProFX.framework I found serval ozone.framework exc files. I deleted all the ozone ones I could find....and that is what fixed the 'ozone plugin' issue upon launching FCP. Even though I heard most people had that problem with Motion, its the same file. I found the ozone plug in is from Noise Industries/FX Factory special effects and both Motion and FCP use it.

Hope this helps someone...took 2 full days of digging to find it, but that was all I had to do 🙂
