Front Facing Camera Photo Flip?

Why is it than when I take a self pic with the front facing camera the pic automatically flips horizontally? Is there anyway to keep this from happening?

I'm disappointed with apple for this.. the majority of selfies aren't with texts on them so why would they reason as such to mirror the picture ?
