Fake iPhone

I recently bought an iPhone 3GS on ebay, which was listed as an Apple product. I have now received it and it did come in an official Iphone 3GS box and does look like an iPhone, but, it doesn't have a sim tray or a mute button, it has removable battery and it's not recognised in iTunes. It says dual Sim on the start up screen. I'm sure it's a copy and have opened a PayPal dispute. The seller has come back and said that it's a genuine 'imported' Apple iphone from Asia. Am I right in thinking that Apple only make one model of the 3GS (with options for 8gb 16Gb, or 32GB) which are then sent to different countries for sale.

I've mad an appointment with the Genius Bar at my local Apple store to have it checked out. Will they charge me if I ask for a letter to confirm it's a fake?

thanks

At this point I would get a Barrister to send a letter to eBay requesting the resolve this issue on your behalf or release the contact information for the seller so you can file charges and sue.

You should have got Seller Contact Info before, but now you can't as he has been removed. The UK still allow release of contact information, countries like Germany do not.

eBay has both "Seller Protection" and "Buyer Protection"
