Interesting. If we take the additional information at face value, we're having trouble with Apple Application Support. (Apple Mobile Device Support as well as iTunes requires a properly functioning AAS in order to work correctly.)

Doublechecking ... when you uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, did you do a complete uninstall of the related software as well, as per the following document?

[Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925]

what is AAS?

Apple Application Support. (That's where the relevant corefoundation.dll is stored nowadays.)

So if it isn't an Apple Application Support issue, then the next thing I'd check on is security software interference.

What make and version of security software (Firewall, antivirus, antispyware) are you running on the PC?

symantec 2005 antivirus

2005? ... okay, old versions of symantec security products have been implicated in this sort of thing before, as per:

[iTunes for Windows: "Unable to load data class information from sync services" alert|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2690]

... but Bricopacks (also as per that document) have also been known to cause the issue on XP machines. So, if you update to a newer antivirus and/or uninstall your Bricopack, does that get you past the errors?

b noir, I didn't want to hijack the thread before, but since nofary's problem is solved (congrats!) I was hoping maybe you could help me out too. I got the same errors, but I have ESET NOD32 antivirus (v4) and Windows firewall.
I tried running iTunes with my iPod Touch connected after disabling both my antivirus and Firewall, but the errors still popped up. And I don't really want to uninstall NOD32... It protects me. :P

Thanks in advance! I really appreciate it.

Doublechecking before proceeding ... could you describe your own errors explicitly, please? (Slight differences in the details can sometimes indicate there's quite a different underlying cause involved with a similar-looking problem.)

*SyncServer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.*
AppName: syncserver.exe AppVer: 17.641.13.22 ModName: corefoundation.dll
ModVer: 1.550.36.0 Offset: 00043e08

*MobileDeviceHelper has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.*
AppName: applemobiledevicehelper.exe AppVer: 17.793.0.136 ModName: corefoundation.dll
ModVer: 1.550.36.0 Offset: 00043e08

And then I get an error alert (big red X) from iTunes saying:
"iTunes was unable to load data class information from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later."

Thanks 🙂
