How many ID Apple have you got? more than one?
If so, in you Itune go to Store->Account
Log-in using the same email and password you used in your Iphone and click on see account.
There you will see all your account information... Look for Purchase History and see if the apps your iphone is saying you have to update is on the list. If they are not listed on the Purchase History is probably because you got them using another ID Apple.
But on the other hand if you see your apps on this list, try to click on "RESET ALL WARNIGS FOR BUYING AND DOWNLOADING ITEMS".
Log-out and try again to update your apps using your Iphone.
By all mean if you have to change you ID Apple in your Iphone go to SETTINGS->STORE on the botton you will see your ID Apple (click on it and a pop-up will show asking you to change you ID Apple) change for your new ID Apple and try all again.
If any path I described here looks different in you Itune is because mine is in Portuguese
Why are some people so illiterate?😕
It should say the Apps item in the left-hand menu column, under Library. Not the Apps Tab! Apps tabs are in either the Store menu or the Devices menu! But you want the Library menu!
Someone should rewrite the instructions. But otherwise, it set me on the right path, and I found the answer to this problem myself.
ufff, I was waiting for this.
Bad Apple, I would like to thank you for making this clear!

Thank you Bad Apple. I thought I was losing my mind till I read your post!!!
If you are reading this and still cannot see the update button at bottom right, you may be using a Macbook Pro, etc.. in which case use the 'fill screen' control (top right of your browser window).. Apparate!
it is also important to make sure the itunes store is not 'Disabled' in your 'Parental Controls' otherwise you will not be signed in thus, not allowing you to get your updates through itunes.
Hi
Can someone please tell me if updating the apps on itunes (using the computer) followed by syncing the computer and the iphone will update the apps without using 3G Data on my phone plan.
Yes. The apps will get copied over from iTunes' local cache without the carrier even knowing. Unless, of course, it's a hardazz and has put the phone on a real tight clampdown of a lock.
I too lost the menu that has the updates... if you have not got the sidebar open.. you cannot find it easily... so pressing Alt+Apple+S will open the sidebar or you can use the view menu - THEN you can find the apps in the "SIDEBAR" (which you can hide) and then update....
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I have spent 5 hours working on this sync problem and you've sent me in the right direction finally.
I changed my email address a couple of years ago and it seems to be what is causing the problem.
I have full access to another persons account b/c of an error with iTunes. I have sent iTunes an email for them to address this serious security breach.
At least now I have an understanding of the problem so again, THANK YOU very much!!!
