Downloads folder in dock doesn't fan out

Downloads folder in dock doesn't fan out

I accidently removed my downloads folder from my dock. I found it, dragged it back to the dock, but now it doesn't do that cute "fan out" that it used to do. It shows a very long list of downloads in alphabetical order that I have to scroll through to find what I need.

Suggestions?

Right click (cntl-click) on the folder and select "view content as" Fan.

I have the same issue as well

However, I have already tried this and yet it when I click the folder in the dock for all of the view options it still opens out in the finder window.

I was wondering if there is like a sudo kill all command to restart it so maybe that may refresh the issue?

Try doing a Dock restart using the following Terminal command:

killall Dock

Log out/in and test. If that doesn’t work, you need to look in your user Library/Applications Support/Dock for the .db. Use the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/Library/Applications Support/Dock. Move the .db to your desktop.

Then try a dock reset.

Applications/Utilities/Terminal enter the command

killall Dock

Log out/in test. If it works okay, delete the .db from the desktop.

If the Dock is the same, return the .db to where you got them from, overwriting the newer ones.
