How to download bigger apps without Wifi

I'm suffering the same problem. What;s the point in a 2 Gig plan if you can't download anything biger than 20 Meg ? As has been said I could download umpteen 18Meg files without a problem and easily eceed the 88 Meg that I'm currently trying to get and rsorted to using my home mobile USB dongle connection (thus using a load of its allowance.
This can not be a network thing otherwise I wouldn't be abl to download via 3G dongle - and I just did.
No, thats crap, tell you why, when I switch my 3G sim to my pocket wifi, it then works, this is a restriction enforced by the IOS, which is based on Verizons agreement, this is complete idiotic mindset, that a service provider dictates a rule that every where in the world is not relevent, we in Hong Kong who have unlimited bandwidth on 3G have to suffer this 3rd world limitiation.
You can remove the limit on a Jail break device, but I refuse to Jail break, so I can blame Apple when things screw up.
Actually it's an Apple restriction, not a carrier one. If you have two iPhones you can activate a personal hotspot on one phone and connect to it with the second iPhone and download 20+ apps over 3G.
No you are wrong. The carrier does not impose the limit. I can tether the same phone to my macbook and can download the same app on itunes with no problem so it is not the carrier. It is apple imposing it on ios only.
This artificial limit that APPLE has placed on 3G downloads is just plain drachonian and asinine.
Trust me, like many people outside of the USA (we do exist 😉) my 3G needs are serviced by carriers that charge by the MB/GB and believe me they want their customers to use as much data as possible.
Sometimes I decide I want to purchase an app when wifi and my computer aren't available. Is there a way to just purchase an app and have it download when wifi becomes available? Kind of annoying to have to remember to download it later.
Sorry guys I never had this problem with my Droid and my husband never has it on his blackburry.
I went into the Verizon store today to complain about this and get an explanation. All I got was "you'er welcome to
Connect to our network. Only complaint I have so far and I switched in mid December.
This is NOT a peovider policy. I have an unlimited data plan on sprint, on my htcEVO and samsung, i could easily surpass a 20mb dl. If it were because of a network policy it would apply to all platforms, not just iOS. This is an internal implementation on the device.
check this out. 3rd world country: my home connection speed is 1,5mb, but 3g in my country is 4mb and i still have to go home to download bigger files on slower speed, even not just when i need them? is this really how it sholud work? paid a fortune to have this iphone 4, i thought it's the best solution possible and then turns out, that it has restrictions?! download size limiting, no flash player and no animated background is that i found so far. i can't believe apple restricts our freedom, this makes me think about jailbreaking my precious device. come on apple, you can do better than that :-(
still 10 out of 10 for the iphone and the imac. fix this limit and calm down millions of nerves, it would be really nice.

Don't you think you're being more than a little melodramatic? You're also not addressing Apple here. Submit your feedback to them using the Feedback page:

Apple has not restricted any freedom due to you... you're free to purchase any other phone available to you.
All devices have limitations... you chose the iPhone, therefore you must live with that phones current limitations. If you think they should be different, send feedback.
Nicely put, I do agree we should have the choice to download large apps over 3g but I get so fed up with people knocking things that no one is forcing them to buy and use.
It just won't happen downloading an app exceeding 20MB on 3G. I really don't think it's the network limit. It should be something fixed in iPhones because I also believe iPhone uses largest MB's comparing to other brands, and thus the idea of avoiding network congestion.
Just a varying point of order (among all of this redundancy...), if it is the carrier who restricts the 3g download limit from the app store, Verizon's limit is 50mb, not the 20mg everyone keeps mentioning as "world-wide." Now I am still under Verizon's Unlimited Data plan (no longer offered), so maybe that has something to do with it, but regardless, thought you all should be aware that some carriers are more friendly than others...
