Cannot Send Mail - the username or password incorrect - help please?

My Yahoo mail account on my iphone which has been working for a year today stopped letting me reply to emails. I can recieve fine but it will not let me reply to messages, comes up with "wrong username and password". I checked in Settings and they are both correct. I have also done the following but to no avaial:

Changed my password to something shorter with just letters
Turned phone on and off
Deleted the account and setup again

If anyone could help I would be most grateful as I have run out of ideas

I'm having the exact same problem on my 3GS. Have another phone (iphone 4) which isn't having any problems

What network are you on? I don't know if it's relevant but some email providers require the outgoing mail to be sent via the network. ie O2 has an outgoing mail server.

My daughter is having the same problem on her 3rd generation Ipod Touch. I however am not having any problems on my Iphone 3gs. We are also on sbcglobal.net I hope apple acknowledges this soon.

I got mine working today by deleting the existing mail acct and adding it in again manually as discussed above. Just dont have my folders, but I'll get em.

in the meantime while Yahoo gets this fixed. i went to the app store and downloaded Yahoo, i can send and receive emails.

I am more than happy to throw my hat in the rink and report the problem if someone can help me with an email address or phone number to use. I have been unable to find any appropriate outlet.

Yay, mine works now too! I never thought I'd be so glad to hear that "wooooshhhh" sound again. Thanks everyone who called and emailed. I'm sure it got them working on it quicker.

Can someone let me know what you mean by setting the account up under 'other'? I am having the same problem, even after getting a new email address. Help!
