Wireless Scanning With Epson Artisan 810

I do seem to be able to get my Epson Artisan 810 to scan wirelessly. The newest software and drivers have been downloaded from Epson. Printing works just fine, but not scanning. Can anyone assist me to set this up. Computer is MacBook Air with OS X 10.6.6. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

My original question was missing a word. It should be:

I do "not" seem to be able to get my Epson Artisan 810 to scan wirelessly. The newest software and drivers have been downloaded from Epson. Printing works just fine, but not scanning. Can anyone assist me to set this up. Computer is MacBook Air with OS X 10.6.6. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

If your 810 is already installed and prints wirelessly, open System Preferences - Printer and Fax and select your printer in the printer list at the left. You'll get a dialog box with the options "Print" and "Scan". Click scan - open scanner and you should hear the printer wake up and see a status box that says click to scan.

I didn't do any special install or any fiddling around, whatsoever, to establish the scanner connection. Simply installing the latest software drivers, from Apple, did it all automatically.

My name is Syd and I work for Epson America, Inc.

From the previous reply, pressing scan should have started the scanner. If not, there should have been some type of message explaining what the problem is. Because of the many variables, we would suggest contacting Epson tech support via phone to best determine the issue. The direct number is 562-276-4382.

Here to help,

Syd

Syd, I'm having the same problem as the previous user. I can not scan wirelessly with my Artisan 810. When I select System Preferences, then Print & Fax, I see the printer, but no options for Scanning. When I launch the Epson Net Setup program, it can not find the printer. When I launch Epson Scan Settings, it just quits right away. When I launch Epson Scan, I get an error that epson scan can't be launched, and it wants to know if I want to troubleshoot. I am able to print to the printer, just can not scan. Please help. Thanks.

FWIW, I'm able to scan wirelessly -- not connected to the router.

Version number for both printer driver and scanner driver is 8.37 -- installed via Apple Software Update, not from anything on the Epson website.

As noted earlier, I didn't do anything to get scanner functionality -- just used Apple Update.

Before I read the first post in this thread, I'd never even tried to use it!

Epson does not support their products. I can only connect to my Artisan 810 via Bonjour and Gutenprint. I can not connect wirelessly with this printer, although last week I could do so. When I call Epson technical support, I feel like I know more than most of their employees about wireless networks. One of their employees even told me there was something wrong with my apple router -- he said this without knowing any of the router connection settings. I'm now on the phone with Epson and am going to attempt to return this printer to them. I've spent hours with them on the phone. This was a refurbished printer and it did connect wirelessly last week, yet has since stopped doing so. I've had it for a week and can print wirelessly via bonjour and gutenprint, but I'd really like an all in one that does what it is advertised to do: scan, print, and fax. I had an Epson printer for years, and am now likely, if I am able to return this product, to buy something completely different. The tech support has been abysmal. Oftentimes, they are reading from a script, and have suggested steps that I've already taken -- repeatedly. What's a good all in one printer for the mac people can recommend that actually is plug and play? Any recommendations?

Okay. I'm keeping my scanner, after my last post. I've been able to connect wirelessly. I did this by going into my router, and changing the password. Then, mysteriously, the Artisan 810 was able to connect to my scanner with a valid IP Address. So If you can't connect, please change the password on your router, and try again. I had been able to connect, but was not given a valid IP Address. I really like the printer, it's a great product, so far, but I am disappointed with Epson tech support. Most of their techs were reading from scripts, and suggestions solutions I had already tried. One tech even told me something was wrong with my router -- without even having inquired about any of the settings on the router.

I actually have an Epson 510NX, and I could, then could not scan using the Epson Scan application. Laptop restarts, Airport extreme restarts, etc., all failed to find the scanner, but I could print wirelessly to the same all-in-one without fault. I followed the advice of opening system preferences >> print and fax >> choosing printer >> selecting scan, and after a short delay (45-60 seconds), the scanner eventually was recognized, and I could then perform a wireless scan to pdf file successfully.

Hi Syd. My name is Reg, and I'm having a bit of a different issue with my Artisan 810. I was scanning last night and it suddenly froze. This is the first problem I've had with it after several months of flawless service. I uninstalled everything, unplugged, reset the printer drivers as per your suggestion in an earlier post. When I reinstalled with the latest software, the Artisan blinks at me. Three of the amber "buttons" on the front panel ((Display/Crop, Menu, the back arrow, and Back) are blinking. Now I can't print, scan, nada. Any help would be really appreciated. I'm working on a Mac Pro running 10.6.8. Thanks.

This worked for me when I was unable to scan documents with Epson Scan:

  1. Go to Finder > Utilities > Double-click Epson Scan Settings.
  2. In the Epson Scan Settings dialogue box: Delete Scanner1. Click Add. Highlight the IP Address (9-digit number inside white box). Click OK.
  3. Next go to Finder > Applications > Double-click Epson Scan.
  4. Once Epson Scan is running make sure a document is on your scanner and try clicking scan.
