Change Icon DMG folder

On my desktop i made a dmg folder to password protect files.
I waned to change the Icon to let it look more fancy. I tried to move an image to the icon in the info window of the DMG-folder. Now the icon is even uglier cause it looks like a jpeg file (shown on desktop and info-window) saying what kind of file it is (jpeg) but not the real image i wanted.
Any tips how to get the image icon on this folder?
Thanks!

I'm not sure what you did, but try it this way if you haven't already:

Open the .jpg file of the desired image in Preview, and from Preview type Command-A (to select the entire image) , then Command-C (to copy it). Then do a Get Info on your .dmg (either the .dmg file itself or its mounted disk volume, as you wish), click on the small icon at the top left of its Get Info window, and type Command-V (to paste in the custom icon).

P.S.: A .dmg is a disk image file, not a folder.
