Impossible to delete a file

I've found a file on my Mac, named Thumbs.db/encryptable.
I was able to delete (put in trash), but when I empty the trash the file stay there.

I try disk repairing from OSX dvd boot.
Try deleting in single user mode, and a lot of other method what I've found on google.
Try delete by id.
Nothing...

This is the main drive, mac os extended journaled.
The drive is in good condition.

IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY TO ELIMINATE A FILE?

Macbook Pro 13, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

Does the file actually contain the '/' character? If so, that's likely what is causing the problem. That's a special character on Unix-based systems.

Try this, assuming you're using an admin account: put it in the trash, then open the Terminal and paste in this command, then hit return:

sudo rm -rf ~/.Trash/*

Be sure to copy and paste, not re-type... that is an extremely dangerous command, and a typo could destroy you. Note that you'll be prompted for your account password, and won't see anything when you type it.

If that doesn't fix it, let us know.

Hey, I'm also encounter this undeletable file on my Mac too. My case was my bootcamp installed a software that enable windows to write HFS+ volumes (Paragon HFS). And whenever windows open a folder with images, it will create a Thumbs.db file. And fore some reason it became a file called "Thumbs.db:encryptable" in windows. And while boot into mac it will become "Thumbs.db/encryptable". Both of it are un removable from mac even in windows.

So my solution is boot into my current installed Bootcamp (windows 8), and you must have a software that enable explorer to write on HFS+ Partition like Paragon HFS or Macdrive.

1) Disable windows explorer to cache thumbs into thumbs.db.

2) Search out all the Thumbs.db:encryptable

3) Rename the " : " into a space.

4) Delete it.

Though this thread might be already many years old, I think its still a worth mention about my solution here. I wasn't able to remove it through Terminal. Hope this helps anyone.
