Spend the money and buy a software program that works, has support and works correctly. Each day I see an endless amount of threads about "Can't Get My Video to Work". And it will get worst once Christmas comes when everybody wants an instant handheld IPOD TIVO and have zero experience working with video conversion tools. Google and you will find programs that can be downloaded as a trial. Find one that works for you and then purchase it. 350 videos on my IPOD to date...and they all work the first time. Good luck!

gee thanks...

especially since 2 of the programs i meantioned were "free trials" of 30 dollar programs, not crapware... im not so sure if the problem is the program im using to convert the movies because the play fine on my pc, its just the ipod that has the problem...

should i try "restoring" the ipod with the updater or are there certain settings that need to be enabled when im converting the video?

ok i tried the program that you suggested (video vault for ipod) and it encoded it at 320x240 and 1500kbps. These settings work great for playing on the ipod (there was no stuttering or skipping) but 320x240 looks terrible on a tv... is there any way to change the settings in video vault to like 512x384, 640x360, or another ipod supportable resolution?

I can tell you this from personnal experience (over ten years) working with video files, there is no way that any file converted to play on the IPOD, will ever look good on any TV over 15 inches. No way, just not enough information to fill all the lines. Not going to happen. The IPOD was designed to display photos, not video on a TV like you might think. People are expecting too much from this "Portable" device. It is not a TIVO and NOt a DVD player to be hooked up to your 42 inch widescreen TV. There are other products that do this.

Hmmm I don't think that Barbara is getting too irrate...

Anyway I'd say its "Ok" at producing a video on a TV but nothing more than that... Its poor VHS quality at best on a 32" screen so I dread to think what it would look like on a 42" or greater sized screen.

For me the video is a nice little extra I use when I fancy something different to do on my commute. I'd personally never choose to watch a video through the TV with it!!

Thanks

Tim
