Custom Signature

I've regularly seen "custom" signatures by some of the regulars - handwriting, bouncing smileys, moving tiger, etc - and decided I'd like to have one. So, I designed one yesterday and, as a test, added it to a post. When I checked about 20 minutes later, it had disappeared; instead, it is showing a large grey lock:

So, is it permitted to have a signature or not? Mine was my name in a fancy multi-colored font with shadow. Or is there a minimum age/points/whatever required?

Sorry, I hate to say this, but moving sigs are a visual distraction for me. Stationary ones like mine 😉 are fine.

I take it we have a misunderstanding and need to renegotiate - you asked what I wanted and my reply did not include offering food...

Seriously, I do like it (the second slower one); however, I must agree with Miriam - moving sigs are quite distracting.

Having said that, I'd like it for other purposes, so can I just copy that - but the url may only work for forums such as this? Is there a way you could post/send that file so I can use it?

You can just control click on it (or any one you want) and select "Save Image..." to download it.

Will the saved image work in any browser window (animated) - because I now have a gif image on my desktop and if I open it, I get a series of images (but no animation)?

I really do like it - thanks for spending all the time and effort on it! Dinner is at 5.....

Drag the gif into a TextEdit document or Sticky note.

You can also drag it to an open browser window.

You can upload the image to your online storage such as on PhotoBucket etc. and and then generate a link to it there to insert a link where you wish.

Or you can use it dragged into your mail as signature if you like (as far as I know your Mail.app on Snow Leopard supports animated gifs in html mail). If not, you would have to use something like "MaxBulk Mailer", that you can find online.

If you would like to create animated gifs yourself you can use:

GIFBuilder found at http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/235/gifbuilder

GIFFun found at http://www.stone.com/NewDownload.html

Both are freeware but check first to see if they work using your OS.
