Sync Apps from iphone to itunes changes the apps layout

Hi everyone,

I been trying to sync my iphone with a new install of the itunes but the problem is that it would change the order of the apps and even remove some of my apps folders. I had already done a "transfer purchases" inside itunes so all apps on my iphone is available on my itunes as well.

So the question is how do I maintain the order of my apps and folders when I do a "Sync Apps" for the first time?

It just does not make sense why the order should be change and folder removed if the same apps are available on both iphone and itunes.

Thanks.

Sounds like a neat trick but I just can't get it to work with my 4S running 5.0.1 and the latest and greatest (not !) version of iTunes : 10.5.3

All the apps are there, but no folders whatsoever...when I uncheck "sync apps", all the checkmarks go away I don't get the iPhone layout mentioned by others here, so don't want to take it further. Closing iTunes without saving the changes brings me back to square one.

I wonder if restoring a backup would do it? Not sure it's worth the hassle, I guess I'll find out if I ever do need to restore a backup...

Same thing for me! Same problem as you all (it is unclear why Apple is not acknowledging it). And, surprisingly, the solution proposed above worked perfectly. My 4th step was "Close iTunes" and, after reopening, all the apps were placed as I did in the iPhone 4.

In my case, the problem was triggered by syncing the iPhone for the first time with the latest iTunes.

Thank you to you all.

Based on the "magic" solution of Aspertine, which many people say that is giving a good work-around solution to this annoying problem:

1. On my itunes apps tab, I uncheck the sync apps tick box if its already checked. this then previews my current iphone page layout.

The above will just NOT happen!! If I uncheck the Sync Apps box, it will show messed up screens, having nothing to do with my iPhone's Apps organization and there are NO FOLDERS!!! Nowhere!!

So, how does this really work? No, it does not!

I agree with RSAustin above!!! Correct said!

Apple, please do something with the Apps Sync at the iTunes, it is pathetic how this works! It simply doesn't work!! Just do one thing: Sync iPhone Apps from iPhone to the iTunes, EXACTLY as they appear to be in the iPhone and with all Folders!! Simple as that... Hope somebody reads here and listens!

Thank you.

Thanks! This worked for me on my iOS5.0.1 iPhone 4 with iTunes 10.6.3 (the latest as of now).

Oh, and Vajrasattva, Zenonp, there's nothing 'Microsoftish' about this. This has been the Apple way since... well, since Steve Jobs came back and rescued them from failure. The concept of 'I will give this to you so this is what you want.' has worked well for them in the past. Now Steve's gone, I'm not sure the hype'll last.

If you have already purchased apps while online with your iPhone or Touch, open iTunes with your device connected, go to File > Transfer Purchases From "your iPhone."

To sync apps bought with another account, go to Store > Authorize Computer, and enter the username and password used to purchase those apps. Note that you can only authorize 5 computers with your account, so choose wisely.
