Sync Apps from iphone to itunes changes the apps layout

Hi everyone,

I been trying to sync my iphone with a new install of the itunes but the problem is that it would change the order of the apps and even remove some of my apps folders. I had already done a "transfer purchases" inside itunes so all apps on my iphone is available on my itunes as well.

So the question is how do I maintain the order of my apps and folders when I do a "Sync Apps" for the first time?

It just does not make sense why the order should be change and folder removed if the same apps are available on both iphone and itunes.

Thanks.

I know this thread is really old.. but continues to be an annoying issue with iTunes and Restoring from a backup.. which in turns resets my layout. The 1 option that always works for me to solve this issue is to use iCloud Backup.

Set up your iPhone/iPad, with all your applications installed and in the correct layout.

Backup your iPhone with iCloud Backup (Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Backup iPhone )

When you restore your iPhone, use the iCloud Restore process ( Its slow and needs to redownload all your apps to your iPhone)

Your Folders and Application layouts will all be in the correct spot, after the restore is finished and your apps redownload..

This is really the only method that works 100% of the time for me.. Every once in a while i will get itunes to restore/sync with the correct layout, but i dont bother anymore

(i still backup locally to itunes and Transfer Purchases, and also use iCloud Backup.. 2 is 1, 1 is none)
