This is what worked for me. I had downloaded ringtones which showed up in my library. !st I had to go to edit-preferences-click next to tones. Next I had to get my ringtones moved into the tones section. All I did was click on the ringtone, went to edit-copy. then I went in to the tones and paste. now all my ringtones are where I need them. Hope this helps

I followed taylorr313's Instructions. Thank you, taylorr313!

I clicked on "Tones" cuz mine didn't have "Ringtones" under Preferences.

I added the songs I wanted to use as my Ringtones into my Library Folder. (I got free Ringtones from Ringtones 500.00+ by DYSoftware via APP Store).

I opened the Tones Folder under my Library.

I dragged the songs saved in my Tones Folder under my LIBRARY towards my Tones Folder under my DEVICES.

I Synced my iPhone.

Opened my Contacts and clicked on a certain person's Profile, clicked on EDIT, clicked on Ringtone, my default ringtones opened and found the new Ringtones I just added on top of my Ringtones' List!

I ツ and enjoyed my iPhone even more!

Hello, I was also having this problem then I tried this: on your iphone go to your itunes then there will be an catagory under the MORE tab called tones. click on it and it will show you all the ringtones you can download or you have downloaded. hope this helps as i can see alot of people with iphone 4 are not seeing the OLD ringtone tab on the main itunes screen like before.

take care, hope this helps

My problem is really weird. I have made a couple of m4r files, and I do have a folder in my library called tones, but when I try to drag and drop the m4r files into it, it doesn't work! I also tried going to the tones folder and using "add to library" but that also didn't work. The m4r files are in my music folder. It's driving me nuts that I can't move them!

Any ideas?

I don't know if this is any use but as far as I know I didn't have the tones folder either but heres what I did & my issues.

Step 1

drag n drop file into music -> right click & click create AAC -> drag new file out -> Rename m4a to m4r

Step 2

drag m4r file into music and it should automatically create a tones folder, if not than

Alternative

If that doesn't work than go to edit -> preferances and check the tones 🙂

hope that helps...
