switch off auto stream to apple tv

Hi guys. I have an annoying problem with air play on iTunes.
We have an apple TV (newest kind) and use Air play a lot. That is we stream the iTunes library from iMac to Apple TV accessed via the Apple TV.
The problem is when I now try to play a video on iTunes on my iMac it automatically wants to play it over Air tunes on Apple TV. I have not figured how to change this presetting since it is really annoying. While I watch something on Apple TV my little one choses to watch something on iTUnes (iMac) and it kicks my program out of Apple TV.
I tried changing the little icon on the right hand side of iTunes and in the play controls itself. But this will not give me an permanent "fix".

Any one with some ideas??

Thank you guys.

iMac 27", Mac OS X (10.6.6), iTunes 10.1.2

I have the exact opposite problem.

I want it to automatically send to my AppleTV2 - all the time. I never use iTunes to watch a video on my Mac.

But every single time I play a video in iTunes, it plays it on "Computer".

Sure I can click the dropdown and select "AppleTV" but I have to do that every time.

Why not simply use the AppleTV?

Why are you sitting at the computer?

Okay, so I know that this is two years after the original post, but I recently ran into this VERY annoying problem as well. I found something out that fixes the problem. Not the best fix in the world but it works for me:

Turn OFF your Wifi or ethernet; whatever connectivity your Mac is using. Then, in iTunes, allow the episode to finish and resume to the next episode. It will give you an alert that the Apple TV is "Not Found" and give you the option to use Computer speakers. Continue to play the next episode. You can turn the Wifi or ethernet back on and continue to enjoy TV or Podcasts or music uninterrupted. Let me know if this does or doesn't work!

Again, sorry it's so late. I love Apple but the ATV really does not live up to expectations sometimes.

I ran into this recently and hadn't used the multiple airplay configuration in a long time so had completely forgotten about it. Chalk it up to the 'new and improved' iTunes UI. If you click on the Airplay button (near the 'Play' arrow) you can see you have choices selected under 2 tabs for single and Multiple.

Check both to make sure that "only Computer is selected.

I used to use these tabs more often in the past, so had forgotten - so hopefully this makes it simpler for others to resolve the same issue. Thanks for all previous posters for their tips.
