Apps won't update

Does anyone know please why my Apps have stopped updating on on iPod Touch 1G?
Update button changes from blue to green install button and back to blue update button. Have tried resetting, logging out etc but to no avail. My sons 2G still seem to work ok.
Any ideas what is going wrong?

Thanks very much, madp01, for that linked info. I never thought to do it that way. Pretty simple, actually, duh. 🙂

Dumb question, but just to make sure: Will "re-downloading" the apps (whether Paid or Free) ERASE/DELETE any personal CONTENT in those apps which are on my phone? (such as tons of Notes in various Notes apps; tons of photos in various Photo Storage apps), etc.? I don't want to chance losing my data/content in all my favorite apps which have "updates" waiting.

The usual, normal way to update apps (currently broken) does NOT erase content (so far anyway) UNLESS the dev says in their Update-Descriptions that their latest update MAY erase content. (On 2nd thought, there was one update in Dec. where the dev gave no such warning & now the app wont even open & all photos in it are lost, I guess(?) It was about that time I decided to quit updating apps. 🙂

Not really a solution. I don't want to use UPDATE ALL, because the new version of "Remote" app doesn't work with my 1st Gen AppleTV anymore with iOS 3.x either! It seems that Apple really doesn't test ANYTHING anymore, and it breaks our apps all over the place (both the App Store and Remote apps don't work properly here)! Also, even right now, I have 12 apps that need updating, and trying to update them one by one by searching for their own app store pages is too much work.

I really want Apple to FIX the problem. As I wrote before: it's ONE thing to stop supporting our devices, but it's another thing to BREAK THEM.

Hi madp01, I went ahead & used your tip & I'm all done updating!! Got 'er down to 5 (4 hog apps that need wifi or Mac; & the one "breaker" app update I will ignore forever).

It really wasn't too bad to look up each app, & I just wanted it DONE & off the GTD list, since this whole affair has been bugging me since Sunday.

So thanks again! (& if I lost any content, I'm too tired to care, lol, but I feel all is well!)

Since I went ahead & did it the harder way Today, 1 by 1 via search, Apple will probably fix it Tomorrow. Hang in there!

Seems the big Apple gets more sinister as each year passes... Or maybe it's just the usual greed mixed with growing incompetence...

I am having the same issue with my iPhone 3G (iOS 3.1.3). It seems a bug in the code of the AppStore since one week ago. So, I hope that they solve it soon, because I don't want to depend of my computer with iTunes, neither to 'Update All' button (because I have some other apps updates that I am avoiding in purpose), neither to re-install because I would lose the data from those apps/games.

I have this same issue. I have been searching for each app individually and "buying" it again. I have tested this method with:

The Weather Channel
AOL Radio
Smurfs' Village
Angry Birds

All of them were updated and kept my data. In the case of Angry Birds, after I clicked buy, I got this message (which I expected):

"This update is free because you own a previous version of this item. To get this update now, select OK."

And of course, no, I did not get charged again.

This is ridiculous. It is now March and the issue has not been resolved. I have a 3g on 3.1.3 firmware. I don't think upgrading to 4.x will help my phone any and have felt 3.1.3 is enough. Come on apple! The workarounds are workarounds and not a solution!

I hope this gets fixed. Unless I'm doing something wrong? Are people still having this problem bc I am ...
