Movie rentals disappear before watching them

Hi,
I rented some movies (4 in total) from iTunes hoping to sync them on my iPad for a road trip. Unfortunately after plugging the iPad, just before I could sync it, I ran into a bunch of bugs and then suddenly two of these movies simply disappeared from the rentals list. In the end I wasn't able to sync any of the movies. I was really looking forward to watching some movies during the trip back home so, I ended up renting one of them AGAIN! (using my iPad, and from my hotel room connection).
These movies DO appear in my purchase history, which means I was charged for things I can't use.
I'm very frustrated to say the least.
Is there some way to bring back those movies to my rentals list? Are they lost forever? (I hope not)
Please help! 😟

Something similar happened to me...i rented 2 movies about a week ago, watched one of them and went to watch the other last night and it's gone! There isn't even a "rental" area in the sidebar. Is this an issue or did i turn something off? And help out there?

This happened to me too today, this problem seems to still exist in iTunes.

Here is what happened:

I rented Nightcrawler from iTunes and it was downloaded and I started watching it.

During watching it iTunes crashed. I restarted iTunes and the rental was gone. I was able to find from the iTunes temp folder a file download.m4v and Info.plist. Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads/Nightcrawler _ Dan Gilroy.tmp

I thought that maybe I will add the download.m4v to the iTunes and maybe it plays me the movie. Did not work, instead iTunes said that "This computer is not authorised to view this movie" and it deleted the file immediately without even asking. The nasty smelly ugly DRM stuff takes its toll.

I checked the support option schedule a call, and it offered me a slot for call for next Monday. I was wanting to watch the rented movie TODAY, not sometime next week or later. So I chose the email option for the support.

During the time when Steve Jobs was still alive and the CEO of Apple, I needed Apple support once. I contacted them via the support (the email option) when I had previous time problem with iTunes (long time ago) and some very polite and helpful person contacted me within the next 15 minutes, and he not only contacted me, but he was able to promptly solve my problem. I was very positively surprised.

Now I was thinking that maybe a helpful person will reach me in the next 15 minutes like in the previous time it happened, and my evening does not get ruined and I can continue watching the rented movie. Instead of getting the real person contacting me promptly, I just got automated reply that they maybe answer me during the next two days or so. So my movie evening got ruined by Apple :/ Where is this nice support person who was eager to help, is he gone nowadays, is he or people like him anymore working for the company at all?

The very same thing happened to me tonight, I'm very annoyed! I was looking forward to watching the movie I rented. Suddenly, the movie freezes, itunes crashes, i go back in and there's nothing. Then when I go to the movie page again, it doesn't prompt me to say I already rented the movie, it prompts me rent it again. I refuse to spend money twice for the same thing...

I have had the same problem from time-to-time myself. Also I have downloaded movies to my computer and they have disappeared from there folders. When I go on iTunes under purchases many of my purchases don't even show up there? It's frustrating. Once it said can't locate the movie so I did the search and it wasn't there? The folders however are still there but the movies are missing. Why do these things happen?
