print to PDF yields multiple documents

In Word 2008 for Mac running in Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.6 (and earlier version of Word and OS X), opening the print dialog and selecting 'Save as PDF' creates a separate PDF file for each section in the Word docx. This seems to have been an ongoing problem, judging from past postings. I have updated Adobe Reader to 9.4.2. Older discussions suggested a workaround that did not work for me.

Is there a current workaround for this?

Yes the above post does work (I wish I'd read this one about two hours ago, I worked it out by trial and error)!

Here's my sequence.

1. Open the word doc

2. Save as PDF (you will get PDF sections as we have all 'complained' about)

3. Select (open) the first PDF section you want

4. Select "continous scroll" from the top left icon (or VIEW) from top toolbar

4, Make sure you have got "thumbnail" view open so you can see all the different PDF sections on left

5. Take the next PDF in sequence and drop it (make sure you drop it just inside the one above VERY IMPORTANT otherwise it just saves in sections as before)

6. Go to file and save

7.You now can delete all the other PDF sections on your desktop for clarity

8. Select "hide thumbnail" from the viewing panel so it actually looks like one document

9. You now have one continuous document!

Your tip is the one that helped me after stuggling a couple days reading through other ideas. In MAC I clicked file, print, then in the box that popped up I changed the settings, to "microsoft word document" which was one of the options I could scroll to. It worked perfectly!!! Now I just got one pdf file when I saved it to pdf. This is a 200 page book and this was so simple. Thanks so much.

I assume you are talking about pressing file, print in word... Then in the box that popped up which setting did you change? The only one that gives Microsoft Word is underneath the preset where it says "Copies & Pages" by default.

And then you are not finished you still have to click on the pdf button as say save as a pdf or something else?

I tried various combinations and it doesn't work. Whenever it finds a section break (which I need as have landscape page) it breaks the pdf. Any advice welcome.
