after investing alot of time and money being trained and certified for any Apple Pro software when I advise or help another community member here and receive recognition and reward in the "Top Users in Forum" what correctly discriminates between relevant registered communities members and unregistered mac clone or hackintosh users that I assist? otherwise, what is the point of "Top Users in Forum" and receiving any accurate recognition and reward from working with an unregistered user on a mac clone or hackintosh for free? I value my knowledge I've received from training and certification and believe that the "Top Users in Forum" should value our accomplishments as well. by correctly discriminating between relevant registered users that we choose to assist we would be assured Apple values us as Pro users and our knowledge as well as we are listed in the Apple Certified Professionals Registry.

What you think Apple should do is TOTALLY irrelevant. It is up to Steve Jobs and the Apple management to decide what Apple should do as a CONSUMER company. However, you can give Apple your suggestions here: http://www.apple.com/feedback If they don't react the way you want, then start your own website and implement any membership requirements you desire

Oh, Apple's "Pro" line of software is more PROSUMER than professional.

Ok.

I get that this is what you want so that you can ensure that your educations is passed on to the people that should receive it.

What I am now struggling with is why you think Apple should do this ?

Maybe they moved away from the Dongle as it was too easily copied.
Maybe the current method provides a trickle of Hobbyists to Enthusiasts to Prosumer to Pro User and that this generates more income in the long term, as has been suggested.
Maybe Apple is quite happy with the current Discussions and does not want to commit staff, bandwidth and hardware to a small group.

In terms of your Question this topic a has been answered.

In terms of your wish (which should really be reposted) the answer will a only come from the long term decisions Apple makes on this.
I would agree that the current forum/Discussion format is somewhat over burdened but that is already acknowledged and the New Communities software should address that.
It may be that Apple will branch off several Discussion areas in this process.
However they never say and the board's Terms of Use prevent Speculation.

I recognise some of the Top Users list from Final Cut Pro as being active elsewhere in other forums.
To loose these experienced Mac Users would probably be detrimental to the Apple Discussion boards as a whole.

Apple is making money.
It that sense it does not need to do anything that is going to effect that.
Your wish has to coincide with Apple's wishes. It certainly does not appear to be an Apple Need.

if there are Top Users for professional applications then why is there any objection to having a Professional Only Discussion area for Pro Apps? any Top User is surely capable of providing their serial number to register their professional applications properly to have access to a Professional Only Discussion area for Pro Applications otherwise what kind of a Top User are they? therefore, these experienced Mac Users would not be lost at all.

Give it a rest. There isn't such a thing to provide for Aperture and there is no "Professional Only Discussion" area.

Did you read my compromise suggestion? It was a response to Tom's post.

So basically you have these options:

1. You can respond to this post and ask that the moderator's pass the idea of having a Professional Only Discussion area, similar to the Developer's Only Forums, up the chain of command.

2. You can submit your suggestion to Apple through their feedback system, as already suggested:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/logicpro.html

3. You can call or write a letter to the headquarters with your idea or concerns:
Apple
1 Infinite Loop
Cupertino, CA 95014
408.996.1010

4. You can switch to CuBase or similar truly professional software and participate in their licensed and professional only forums.

But I have to agree with Miriam, you are done here and this discussion has run its course. While I don't necessarily agree or disagree with you, you surely don't want this to run on to a 15 page frivolous thread. Like the one on signatures. So use some discretion, go with one of the options above, try to help people over in the Logic Pro forum, and do some good in the world.

Audioveritas,
This feedback forum for Apple Discussions is the page where you can refer anyone to point to a moderator when something is not within terms of use. A moderator will then decide if a post requires locking or deleting.

Once you have earned enough credit, a "Report this post" link will appear at the bottom right where you can ask a moderator to consider a post for violating the spirit of terms of use.

Finally, when you have received enough credit, a separate Lounge forum becomes available where you can privately discuss with hosts and other people who have received the same amount of credit any issues you see in the forum in general.

That said, as others say, while there is nothing stopping a hackintosh user from coming in here, the moment they admit it, they are approaching terms of use violation. But it still is up to the moderator to decide if it is or isn't. So if you see something that is not kosher, feel free to ask if it is in the Discussions Feedback forum.

Hi,

I tend to agree with ali brown and deggie on this.

I have not been disagreeing with you.

I have been very patiently explaining that what you are suggesting is just not done here.

I think I and others have been very clear on this to the point of suggesting other methods of applying yourself or other routes to make your wishes known, including reposting a rephrased question.

Eric W. the Head of the Host has already answered you directly twice in this thread.

As my comments seem to be falling on deaf ears I too will Unsubscribe from this thread.

How orwellian!!!!!!!

This is not 1984! You have the right to voice your opinion, others have the right to voice theirs. You can help, or not, you can complain, or not, you can get rewarded, or not. The most important thing in this community is that people help other people for for free! the folks from Redmond, WA never had such a dedicated community on their website. I got a lot of help from the fellows 10 years ago, when starting on a Mac and now am gladly spending nights helping others in return, passing the buck.

Your democracy ends where mine starts!

The forums here are definitely consumer oriented. If you want to discuss issues with professionals or aspiring professionals you'd be better off looking for forums aimed at professionals who use the software tools that interest you or that you've received certification for. You're just in for a lot of grief if you try to press your point here.
