Bluetooth Stereo Headset - choppy audio only with OSX

I just purchased a Motorola S9-HD headset and it works flawlessly with my phone (Android, HTC hardware). On my MacBook Pro (Core 2 Duo) however, audio is complete garbage. The audio chops - a second or 2 of sound then silence, then another second or two of sound. If I let this go on for a minute or more the audio speed starts increasing along with the chop. It's totally un-listenable.
I've seen suggestions that this is an issue with the headset, but it is not. The headset performs perfectly with other devices. And just to be sure I trashed my Bluetooth preferences on the MacBook Pro, rebooted, removed all Bluetooth devices and re-paired the headset. With the headset as the -only- Bluetooth device connected to the MBP, audio was just fine. No chopping, no speed strangeness, perfect performance.

The moment I pair and connect my Magic Mouse the headset audio goes all wacky again. Clearly the MBP can't handle both Bluetooth devices at once so I'm left with the decision of using either my Magic Mouse OR my headset. I can't use both at once.

Any suggestions?

I've seen this thread as well - http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10946202&#10946202 - but it's both closed and for older model MBP's. None of the fixes suggested there actually work. The only thing that does is to disconnect and not use my Magic Mouse.

I had the same issue with Sony Bluetooth Headphone SBH60. Now the problem has been solved and I'll explain you how. for the beginning check the following Items:

1. Can your bluetooth device connects to more than one device at a same time?

2. Is any other device around you functioning with active bluetooth state? (ex. smartphone, smartband, other pc) (this step does not included magic mouse or iMac keyboard, you can use them at the same time with the apple device you want to connect your bluetooth headphone)

Solution:

at the step 1, if the answer is yes, disconnect the headphone from the second device and for better performance, turn the second device bluetooth off.

at the step 2, if the answer is yes, switch them bluetooth off.

once you want to use bluetooth headset with your mac or any other laptop with bluetooth device, you have to turn other device bluetooth off. and this has nothing with apple or any other manufacturer. It's the nature of bluetooth signals which may interfere each other in the hot zone (bluetooth amplitude area)

CAUTION: bluetooth device may interfere with some kind of access point/wireless fidelity devices.

I had the same problem. It is a messy driver issue between Broadcom bluetooth and wifi.

There are three major steps to take:

1. Go to drivers and printers (type it in the search next to the Windows logo), right click your bluetooth headset and open the properties/services pane. Uncheck handsfree telephony. This may already be enough.

if not:

2. Go the the device manager. Find network adapters. Open it, go to the Wifi adapter/properties and look for "bluetooth collaboration" in the services pane. Enable it.

if this still doesn't cut it.

3. uninstall the wifi adapter (I am not kidding) completely.

This actually did it for me.

Don't forget that sometimes a reboot may be necessary.

And to speak plainly: Apple - this issue has been there for ages. It is a driver issue. So come on and fix it.
