Verizon iPhone- using WiFi only?

Hello,

I am considering buying an iPhone through Verizon. However, I never use the internet on a phone (I currently have a regular old flip phone, no data plan).

When I am at home, would I be able to use my WiFi network and NOT Verizon internet? Would using my own WiFi at all impact my Verizon charges?

I am trying to figure all of this out before I decide to switch to the iPhone... I just want the convenience of having my iPod and phone together.. I don't really care about using the internet other than at my own house on my wifi.

Thanks for any help!!

I got similar Problem its an oldie iphone flip. MOVISTAR iphone and they block my mail and ALL PAGES with heavy contain is block or/and tagged. I was thinking to get a new iphone but.I don't trust anymore It is possible just to use any wifi having the advantage of the equipment and being free from those companies that should be out of market .I just call them they don't denny it but don't go forward b/c they just 1) want to sell my plan which is no really 3G and 2) they pushed too much the small net they have to support the system thank to sacrifying iphone owners. Annd i own laptop i dont know how to complain with you directly. Are they any right to new tech consumers?HOw to reach out for better companies or servers?

Seeings as they are going tiered in the summer, you might as well keep your data plan, because if you change it, it's not going to get any cheaper, seeing as the unlimited plan is a promotion, not a regular offer, meaning that the tiered prices are probably going to be 25$ for 500MB for example and 35$ for 2 GB for example, so its not worth rebelling over the use of data plans. Frankly, it seems like you want an iPod and and phone together, but frankly the data plan to you is a nightmare. Anyways, I know you say that you do not need it, but there will always be a moment when you will, and after a while, you begin to start using it often on the go...
