Just following up on this issue. Any alternate solutions? I have been encountering this exact same issue, and so have two other iPhone users I'm aware of. I feel like there should be a quick way to "calibrate" the keyboard so it doesn't keep back spacing when trying to type the letter "m."
Thanks, in advance, for any additional info.
I have the Emoji keyboard installed also. Every once in a while the key mappings are off just as you described. All i did to fix it was tap the globe icon back and forth and that seemed to remap the keys correctly with the screen. Never needed to reset/reboot. This issue hasn't shown up on my 4S yet thankfully.
I have neither of these Emoji Apps, and I still have issues with my iPhone, but it is not limited to the keyboard, if I am trying to drag my icons from one space to another, I have to practically wipe my finger to the very edge to make an icon go to the next page, and often it requires three or more tries. Likewise when trying to navigate in iTunes, address book, messaging.. the toch pad is just plain OFF and it needs to be calibrated, much like you did with a stylus. With my Itouch and my wifes iPhone I have NO issues.
There has to be a way to calibrate the touch screen without having to reset the phone as suggested in this article.
I had the same problem with my iPhone 3GS and now again with my iPhone 4S and others have mentioned it to me as well. I think they just need to rethink the design of the keyboard. Sorry 😟
If you have a "screen protector" on your phone, remove it.
I cannot believe the stupid answers u received, that ur fingers are pressing the wrong button or it's the emoji keyboar. Outta quriosity did u replace ur screen? To me that what sounds like has happened and either the cable connections or the front panel is damaged. Mine also is playing up but I think it's the cable or dust that's causing as it was working fine after new install of front panel but played up after I realized the cable was not through the frame properly lucky they only cost 30$
You should keep ur comments to yourself do u honestly think a screen protector will cause this!
Why would you need to reset ur device or do a hard reset? Its a touch screen it doesn't have memory or require any form of reset to work if anything it will be a cable, logic board or the screen itself.

I seem to have this problem when my phone charger was plugged in but soon as I removed it it work fine again! Hope this helps someone!!!!
