Auto Capitalization? First letter in sentence?

How do I get Pages to auto cap the the first letter in a sentence?

I am in a trial period with pages- coming from WORD....In word I was able to type a sentence-period-return...and the program would automatically capitalize the first letter in the sentence.
In other words- I didn't have to manually use the shift bar to Capitalize the beginning of a sentence- I would just type.
I want to be able to do this in pages. Can I?

I checked +Fix capitalization+ in prefs- but that didn't do anything....(?)

Air, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

Not a Pages feature.

Is this really something you need?

Personally I expect to have to chew my food. Even though I know that can be a chore.

Actually- it does- I got it to work.
And no- I do not need it- but these programs should have feature options- some you use- some you don't.

Pages>Preferences>Auto-Correction>Fix Capitalization

That was exactly what the O.P. said didn't work. Then they said that they had 'fixed it'.

The question was how?

Peter, my comment was in reply to your asking the O.P. how it was fixed. Your first response indicated to me that you (not the O.P.) didn't know how to accomplish capitalizing the first word in a sentence because you said:

If you had read the manual and knew how to accompish this, why did you tell the O. P. it was not a Pages feature?

We are going in circles.

The only method to my knowledge is the Preferences.

If it didn't work and now it does I'm sure everyone would like to know what has changed.

Hi, I've found a good solotion to capitalize the first letter of the first word in every sentence.

From preferences go to Auto-Correction and add all letters from A to Z. as you see in the pictuer

Replace . a to . A until Z. (make space between . and the letter)

Doesn't checking "Fix Capitalization" do the same task? Fix Capitalization also understands that sentences can end with exclamation points or question marks as well as periods, two instances where capitals would not be inserted using this method.

Neither method will correct the lack of a capital on Jill in "jack and jill went up the hill."

urrm i have the problem of wishing to autocapitalize in which ever programe im in. ie whether it be in Safari or in Mail. having to press the shift key is highly annyoing especially as ive just come from windows and im missing this feature i mean just look when i type 'i' it doesnt auto capitilize by the way i have os lion 10.7
