Auto Capitalization? First letter in sentence?

Those preferences are in Pages '09, you probably have Pages 5.2 which has over 110 features removed.

You know, Peter, just because you don't think the question legitimate does not give you the excuse to be snarky. For those of us that do a lot of typing, especially if we owned an alternate brand of laptop previously, found the feature of auto capitalization quite helpful. If you like to perform the extra motion of pressing the shift key, then be my guest. But you have no right to respond with such contempt. No one forced you to answer the question. You could have simply ignored it. But you chose to respond in an unprofessional manner.

I know that this was some time ago. I see the date stamp above. However, this is not the first of these disdainful responses. If you will not be helpful to those who are willing to ask for aid, then stop replying to their questions.

That tab doesn't appear in preference. I'm using macOS Sierra and pages version 6

No release of Pages v5, or v6 on macOS Sierra has the ability to auto-capitalize sentences. Use your shift key ... or:

Word has auto-capitalization in its Preferences, but is not enabled by default.

LibreOffice Writer automatically capitalizes the first word of sentences without any visit to its preferences.

I had this problem also. I even called Apple Tech, no one there came up with a cure. Just now I while playing around went to "System Preferences". Clicked on "Keyboard" then "text". there I found that boxes for auto-cap and period after double space were not checked. When I did this those functions worked. At least for me. Good luck.

That is new in Sierra.

All the previous posts are older than Sierra. Prior OSXs do not have that feature.

And the award for most needlessly rude person of the day goes to Peter! Congrats! But it is a legitimate question. A computer is an efficiency tool, and auto capitalization makes people more efficient. But best of luck with that superiority complex of yours.

And the auto-capitalization user tip for Pages v6 on macOS Sierra.

I was searching for an answer to the same problem and figured it out now. I have a MacBook air. Thought I'd let y'all know too, if this will make any difference :)

So here's what I did:

Launchpad>system preference>keyboard>text

On the right hand side you have choices such as:

- correct spelling automatically

- capitalise words automatically

- add period with double-space

So y'all can just tick the boxes of which one you want
