How to auto direct call to Bluetooth (Rather than selecting everytime)

Is there a way to have a call direct to bluetooth as soon as I hit answer on the phone?

Currently everytime I have to select bluetooth on the phone AFTER I answer the call. I would like the call to go automatically to the headset when the headset is powered on.

Can anyone help?

iPhone 4 Verizon, Mac OS X (10.5)

As of release IOS 10.3.2 (the latest release in July 2017), you would go to General, Accessibility, Call Auto Routing, then check off the Bluetooth Headset selection. Now when a call comes in AND your Bluetooth headset is ON, the call will go directly to your headset. If your Bluetooth headset is OFF, then the call will be picked up on the phone like normal.

Thank you very much to HofstraJet and jmbegin. These are the right answer instead of everybody saying "just deal with it". It's incredibly inconvenient to be forced to use the headset itself to answer the call. If I'm actively listening to music through a Bluetooth headset, why on earth would I want an incoming call to route through the phone speaker so I can't hear it?

It's more akward to reach up and touch the button by your ear than it is to dig out your phone, look to see who's calling, swipe your finger over and kill the family of 4 on their way to the park for a nice day out because you weren't paying attention to where you were going, but were looking at your phone instead...

Just push the button on your headset and deal with it.

SOLUTION - iPhone - answering a call DIRECTLY on bluetooth device

I don'tknow why anybody at Apple hasn't answered this problem properly.

And it's NOT that the default answering mode onthe iPhone is the iPhone itself rather than the Bluetooth device, and that youthen have to scramble to change devices for the incoming call to go through on tothe Bluetooth device...

It's really simple:

When the phone rings with the incoming call:

- If you want to answer the call on the iPhone itself - use the iPhone itself to answer the call.

- If you want to answer the call on theBluetooth device itself - use the Bluetooth device itself to answer the call, (answer the call by touching the button on the Bluetooth device - don't even touch the iPhone).

This way, even if you have your Bluetooth device on – you have the CHOICE to answer the incoming call EITHER with your iPhone OR your Bluetooth device.

GoodLuck!

Here's a better solution (from this site: http://www.imore.com/how-set-default-call-answer-mode-iphone):

  1. Launch the Settings app from the Home screen of your iPhone.
  2. Tap on General.
  3. Scroll down towards the bottom and tap on Accessibility.
  4. Now tap on Incoming Calls under the Physical & Motor section.
  5. Here you have the option to toggle between Default, Headset, and Speaker. Default answers calls like normal through the normal earpiece in your iPhone while headset will use any headset you have paired with your phone. The last option, speaker, will utilize the built-in loud speaker and default to that whenever you answer a call. Tap the one you want.

I usually never find what I am looking for in the apple communities so I figure I should help when I can.

Here is the current fix on iOS 8.3 for getting your phone calls to answer via connected bluetooth device when answering by phone screen instead of having to answer using bluetooth device.

-Settings

-General

-Accessibility

-Scroll down to interaction section

-Call Audio Routing

-Choose headset

Works like a charm.
