Downloaded Safari 5.0.3 from Apple using my daughters MB Pro.
I then transfer that download to a usb thumb drive and then copied onto my MBPro.
When I double click on my MB Pro, it says "The following disk images couldn't be opened".
This is just a guess, but you might try reformatting that thumb drive to a more Mac-friendly partition map scheme and format.
I saw on another site that someone used Terminal and the curl command to download but the link didn't work for me.
It didn't work for me, either, perhaps because the link to Safari is rather complex.
I'm out of town and away from my SL disks so trying to do using another laptop....I agree it should work but copying is not working for me???
If reformatting the thumb drive doesn't help, will that ".dmg" file mount on the other Mac? Do you have access to a MobileMe iDisk or similar? Could you use file sharing between the two Macs to transfer the file?
