QuickTime 6.0.3 for MacOS 9.2.2

Hi. I use a G4. Sometimes when I try to watch a QuickTime movie while on the Internet I get the following: "QuickTime is missing software required to perform this operation. Unfortunately, it is not available on the QuickTime server." Where, pray tell, can I find this missing software?

You are most likely missing a video decompressor or codec. Apple has arrangements to supply a few but the one you need must not be included in that component download program.
If you are trying to view avi files you may find the codecs from these two sites helpful. They don't work on QT 7 but since you are using QT 6 and 9.22 they should work for you:
DivX
3ivx
If they are not avi files you may could try opening them (even though they may not play the video) and try MovieInfo (Command-I). That should tell you what codec is missing. Then see if you can find a site with that codec using google or some other search engine. Or you can post the name of the missing codec here and someone may be able to tell you if and where it is avaialble for OS 9.22
