Which Flash Player for OS 10.4.11?

The files you have downloaded here are specifically for Flash developers who are testing their movies with older Flash Players. For normal use, please download the current version of the Flash Player, available from the Flash Player Download Center ( http://www.adobe.com/go/getflash).

10.2+ won't work - it's intel only.

Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users. The latest version, 10.2.152.25 or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform.

You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

What's the best way to repair permissions with Tiger (10.4.11)?

Same as on Leopard:

Repairing permissions is important, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.

Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).

In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.

This only takes a minute or two in Tiger, but much longer in Leopard.

Well, this may have been correct advice at the time, but as of today, 12/28/11, it results in complete loss of Flash capability on my PPC iBook G4, with no chance of recovery once you use the uninstaller.

I can't find archived versions of 10,1,102,64 or even of the vulnerable 10.3.183.5 anywhere online and Adobe's site is worse than useless, it tells you to install 10.2.x and then halfway through the process tells you it can't be done on PPC machines. So you're left with no flash capability any longer.

No more Flash or YouTube videos for me, I guess. 😟😟😟

That's one way to force users to buy newer Apples with Intel processors, I guess.
