character limit on text fields with Safari?

I love this browser. Seems to work best on 99% of the sites I visit. But, I just ran into a problem that maybe somebody has experienced in here. I am helping with data entry for a fairly large site and there seems to be a character limit in text fields with Safari. The same is not true for text boxes, only text fields. It will only allow me to enter up to around 300 or 350 characters in a single text field. I have checked other browsers and they do not have this problem. Is there a setting anywhere, by any chance, that I might be able to change to correct this problem? I really prefer not to have to use another browser.
