Xcode 3.2.5 and iOS SDK 4.2 Download Problems

I have just recently purchased a MacBook Pro for the sole purpose of learning to develop iPhone applications. However, I am unable to download the SDK, whenever I click the download link, it will not progress. It will remain at 0% until I simply close the download. I have no idea why this is happening, and am slightly annoyed that I can not download the iOS SDK or update Xcode. I was able to download Xcode off of a disc which came with my MacBook. I have also recently easily downloaded large files so I do not think it is my internet which is the problem.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.

Are you logged into Apple's developer center when that happens?

This may not help, but it will only take a minute to try: Point to the download link, then right-click (or control-click) and select "Copy Link". Open a new browser tab or window. Paste the copied URL into the location field of the window, then press "return". Does this work better?

You might also try selecting "Download Linked File" from the right-click contextual menu.

Just a little update on my problem.

When I click the link it progresses just past the http// at the beginning of the link. If I right click the link and click download linked file, it tries to download a file called "download.action". It never gets past "preparing to download. I have tried using a different web browser and I plugged my MacBook directly into the router. Im am still able to use the internet fine, as well as download other files. This is the only download I am having any problems with. I have submitted an email to Apple support, but haven't received a response yet. Please, if you have any ideas at all, post them.

Another update...

Tried using wget to download the file. It clearly shows where it goes wrong, but I don't know enough to make any sense of it.

If any of you can make any sense out of it, please do. By the way, I changed a few of the appIdKey numbers/letters so it wouldn't link back to my account.
