Question

No apparent method to type "SHIFT + ENTER"

To force justification in MS Word 2004, it is necessary to type in SHIFT + ENTER.

Unfortunately, my new MBP does not have a separate ENTER key like my old PowerBook. Instead, the only way I know of to type "ENTER" on my MBP is to press SHIFT + RETURN. Obviously, this prevents me from being able to type SHIFT + ENTER.

Does anyone know a work around for this dilemma, i.e. a way to type SHIFT + ENTER on a mid-2010 MBP?

Try SHIFT FN RETURN

Thanks for your suggestion, Retired Engineer. Unfortunately, I had already tried that without success.

As is readily apparent if you turn on the "show paragraph sign" function in MS Word, SHIFT + RETURN equals ENTER on my MBP, whereas FN + RETURN simply yields RETURN.

I've also tried all other seemingly relevant key combinations like ALT + RETURN and CTRL + RETURN, etc. but found nothing but SHIFT + RETURN that yields ENTER on my MBP, which, obviously, prevents me from being able to type SHIFT + ENTER.

You sure they aren't the same thing?

On my older MBP function-return is the same as enter.

Well, if I type SHIFT + RETURN I don't get forced justification in MS Word like I used to by pressing SHIFT + ENTER. I think that speaks for there being a difference.

Push the SHIFT key and hold it down
Push the FN key and hold it down
Push and release the RETURN key
Release the SHIFT and FN keys.
