My desire to have a wired trackpad is due to wishing to avoid RF electromagnetic radiation in proximity to my body and brain. This is one major form of environmental protection that Apple are not taking seriously. In fact they are heavy promoters of wireless technology (iPhone, Touch, Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, etc).
Apple, please recognize this and provide for your followers who are aware of the dangers of EM radiation, or who are sensitive enough to be physically affected by the same.
Great had2B! I totally support your request. Yes, it is amazing and ugly that this issue seems to be completely ignored by apple. But apple is more and more about profit, and proportionally less about care and health, and eventually less about quality. Look at the salaries of leaders in apple (leave Tim out of it, he is and abhorrent case alongside Gates and that crowd), and the amount of shares they receive. It is repulsive to observe the absence of decency and modesty. A company more and more driven by greed. Any kind of idealism related to ethics and sincerity is going down the drain.

I think this is a fair product but when NiZn rechargeable batteries have 100% solved the Trackpad and Wireless Keyboard problem, lasting around 2 months plus per charge, I am not sure why you would bother, with yet more wires lying around. Also they are asking folks to pay their development and pre-production costs. It is a bit of a risk to take as the finished product may never arrive on your doorstep.

Again, I want to point out that for a number of reasons it is the Bluetooth that is a deal killer for many users. Not an inconvenience or a preference, but an absolute deal killer. Many of us absolutely require a wired device.
I want to second what "artysan" says. It's not just a power/battery consideration: it's that Bluetooth won't work in all situations. For example, I use a multi-computer setup accessed via a KVM switch. I don't want a Bluetooth device to partner to a single computer. I need my input devices to "move" from computer to computer as I select from the KVM.

Exactly. The battery is just a small issue, the bigger issue is bluetooth. I also have a KVM setup in my office, and I can thus ONLY use wired devices.
Another issue is school computer labs. Macs in a lab have to be attached to a cable lock and the keyboard and mice wires attached to the cable with a plastic tie or small padlock. Otherwise they'll get pilfered by students.
Yes I want one too! I also find having to recharge batteries all the time a nuissance. I have replaced my wireless keyboard with a wired one.
a wired trackpad would be great.

It's not just pilferage, it's that the kids think it's funny to move bluetooth devices around in the lab so that the mouse/trackpad is in front of a different computer than what it is paired with.
Unless Apple is going to start marketing a Magic Stick To Beat Naughty Kids. (Hey, wait, that's a product that might come in handy even if they come up with a wired Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse!👿)
+1, it's great I don't have to move a mouse over the surface of my desk anymore, but there's no point in the trackpad being wireless.
Looks like this request has totally fallen on deaf ears. anyone find some other suitable WIRED products made by someone other than Apple?
Guess This really won't happen either, but Wish I could hard-wire my unused iPad to use as a trackpad for my mac. totally not possible?
Check out Tenonedesign's Inklet app to use with a Pogo pen and trackpad. Not 100% what you want but part of the way there. Otherwise second hand Wacom tablets are not expensive. That is what I bought and it is brilliant for Photoshop.

I bought the Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch and never looked back. There's a silver version that matches the Mac look. Had it for about two years and very happy. Check it out.
