VLC player starts automatically instead of WMPlayer

Hi.
In some website there are links that before used to launch automatically the Windows Media Player.
Since I have installed the VLC player when I click to the video link the VLC starts automatically but unfortunately it doesn't manage to open the file (I believe it is a wmf)
How can I setup the WMP to start automatically?
I dont wanna cancel the VLC coz I use it to see multiregion DVD

Hi Hagrid,

Well, I'm starting with a few asumptions here; the first being that you are using Safari and the second that you have installed the WMP plugin for it. From there go to Windows Media Player's Preferences and network settings. Uncheck the Multicast, VDP and TCP boxes and leave only HTTP checked with no proxy and see if that helps.

This is how I solved it.
I delete VLC from the Applications folder.
Reinstalled WMP.
Run Safari and open a link. WMP was the only software at the moment in the Application folder to read mediafile (together with Real Player) and Safari launched automatically WMP.
I then transferred again VLC from the bin back to the Application folder.
WMP remained by default the main application Safari launches and I can use VLC to overcome my region locked to USA DVD, that in any case I am gonna plan to unlock in an Apple shop in January.
Merry Xmas guys
