Adding Aged Film Effect To Sequence

Hi, I' trying to add an aged effect to the start sequence of my new project. It's in black and white and mainly want to add noise and film burn/scratches, what filters do i need to use to create this and can i do it without having to buy 3rd party plug in's?

Any help greatly appreciated, thanks

I have some of the Nattress filter set and it's great. However you can also do this if you have QT pro though only on export. Select Export> 'using QT conversion'> Options>Filters>Special Effects. Root around and you may find some useful ones.

cheers,

Not easily with FCP that I've found. However, imovie has a film effect where you can add stutter and lines and such. I used this for a photo montage project once. Basically you export out of FCP, import into imovie and apply the filter, then export (or Share in imovie) it back out. You have to go into the advanced settings in imovie and make sure you get it set for DV as I think by default it does a smaller lower quality web compression but it's pretty straight forward. It's a bit of a hassle but you can avoid spending money on a plugin that way.
