MacBook Pro 2011 17" hard freeze

I had exact the same problem here. I already sent the feedback to Apple and hopefully we'll get a solution from them soon.

Another owner of an early 2011 mbp 15" here, it started booting to a white screen two months before its 2nd year.

I agree with the media suggestions.

I think that if Apple continue to ignore this, going to the media might be a useful tactic.

I'm also having the same problem. I'm really scared as I cannot afford to spend money on logic board replacements or new machines right now. 😟

I will contact them and try to reason with them. If that won't work I'll try to get it to a professional and resolder the discrete GPU.

That's a temporary fix - this macbook was not designed to work only with the integrated gpu. In my opinion, sonner or later, the integrated gpu will also fail. :|

I am using fgxCardStatus.

I haven't noticed anything that doesn't work. FaceTime, Camera Booth works stil

A (for me) very important thing that's not working properly with gfxCardStatus forcing the integrated graphics:
No external display/projector 😟

I'm also having the same problem. My macbook pro 2011 can't use the ati radeon. I need to use only integrad intel by gfxscardstatus.
