Novation Zero SL MKII & Logic 9 Pro Transport Controls... Help!

Hi...

I'm trying to get the transport controls on my Novation Zero SL MKII working with Logic Pro 9. I tried mapping them with the "Learn" method but I can't seem to get the "Record" button functioning properly and sometimes some of the other transports don't seem to work.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

you dont have to map anything as long as you have the lastest software and you follow the setup instructions in making it a "control surface" in logic. Then you need to make sure your in "mix mode" per the manual, and hit the button NEXT to the transport control to make it active. If you do not hit this button, the transport controls have a different functions (which is helpful).

Here is a link to a video showing how to setup and use it: http://www.novationmusic.com/answerbase/en/article.php?id=671

I do finally have the transport buttons & the general mixer functions working with logic 9.

However, What about 3rd-Party plug-ins? Do I need to use the "Learn" function to completely setup which button controls which on the plug-ins? I'd like to be able to have it so I can edit parameters for the specific plug-ins with the SL MKII. So I don't have to use my mouse to tweak the sounds.

Anyone know about this? For instance I did this with MOTU MX4 Plug-in synth. And then set as default to control various buttons, knobs and sliders on the plug-in interface. By default I'm not getting these controls automatically mapped... It seems I need to map them manually.

Hi. I see this is an old post. Did anyone get anywhere with this.

I know the automap 4 has been released however using the transport controls with my SL mkii when I press stop, the trackhead returns to the start of the project and similarly pressing Play plays from the previous start position and not from the current resting position of the trackhead... I would like these buttons to behave as though pressing space bar, the same as my Akai MPK transport controls.

I am currently awaiting a response from Novation, however the first response I received was that I should check settings within Logic...

Admitedly I haven't played with those options, however within the same project using space bar will Stop (leaving treakheader at the piont of stopping) and Play (starting again from the current location of the trackheader). Also the Akai transport controls will behave as per the space bar... it's only the novation transport controls which return the trackheader to the project start when pressing Stop and playing from previous play point when pressing Play...

Ok, then I think the problem might be that the buttons on the keyboard itself are configured to do a key press when pressed AND released. Not near mine, so I can't provide exact instructions. The keyboard itself has a series of set up screens, and within there you can tell it to treat those buttons as (toggle, I think it is called) instead of (whatever the other ones are) - the naming of the button behavior should be somewhat self explanatory when you find where it is. It's been a few years so I don't remember where, see if it says in the manual.

maybe, maybe not, because of Automap. You are on a different version of Automap than I am, most likely (I'm on v 3.x something), and there are differences, so I don't know how the transport is handled now.

Try something for me. After you press stop, turn on the cycle mode and make sure the loop area does not start at the song beginning. Now press stop on the keyboard. Try it also as a press, but don't release the button. Is the playhead jumping to and from the locators?
